Found: Happiness in sports after vision loss
By Victor Soares
Shawn Cheshire had an accident while working as a paramedic in 2009 where she lost her vision. Now she is a professional athlete.
“No matter what life throws at you, as crappy as it can get, you don’t blame everybody else for what happens in your life,” she said. “You pick yourself up and go in a different direction. You can always get up and move on – you never quit, you never quit.”
Minor grumblings about small problems don’t always sit well with Cheshire.
“I just sometimes stand there and I cannot believe that you are complaining about that – in front of me.”
