From The Ground Up Therapeutic Horsemanship brings healing for people of various abilities through partnerships with horses.

Andrea Colella, a State University of New York at Cobleskill equine science graduate, founded the Central New York program in 2002. She feels passionately about working with people with disabilities and special needs, and she loves fitness and horsemanship.

Colella, a certified PATH International and Certified Horseman’s Association instructor, completed the therapeutic horsemanship instructor course offered in Pennsylvania. The organization believes that “every person can benefit from the intuitive and sensitive nature of the horse whether it is from ‘the ground’ or ‘up’.”

In the video, Colella shares what she’s found through her work at From The Ground Up, after a day of lessons at the New Woodstock farm.
